Synopsis: Yes Chiropractors can treat animals in the State of Minnesota but must be registered. This requires at least 210 hours of post graduate eduction from an approved course. Talked with Nancy Christiansen, Director of the Mississippi Board of Veterinary Medicine, she stated, "they (Chiropractors) must be Mississippi licensed chiropractors under the direct sup a licensed Mississippi Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Interestingly, she also stated that it was the Chiropractic Board who insisted that the language about direct supervision be part of the regulation.

Talked with Teri Miller Processing Technician for the Missouri Vet Board. He says yes Chiropractors can treat animals but under the direct supervision of a licensed Veterinarian. STATUTES RELATING TO VETERINARY MEDICINE AND SURGERY PRACTICE ACT
Section: 38-3321. "Veterinarian; veterinary technician; animal therapist; license; required; exceptions. Subsection 13) Any person who holds a valid credential in the State of Nebraska in a health care profession or occupation regulated under the Uniform Credentialing Act from consulting with a licensed veterinarian or performing collaborative animal health care tasks on an animal under the care of such veterinarian if all such tasks are performed under the immediate supervision of such veterinarian."

Recieved an email from Nicolas Alderete, Board Administrator who attached the following "rule" to the email:
16.25.9.20 DIRECT SUPERVISION OF NON-VETERINARIANS: Non-licensed individuals are prohibited from practicing veterinary medicine which includes but is not limited to chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, acupressure, homeopathy, therapeutic massage, dentistry, embryo transfer or any other related services on animals as defined in NMSA 1978, Section 61-14-2(B)(1), except under the direct supervision of a New Mexico-licensed veterinarian. Direct supervision includes the following:
A. the licensed veterinarian must have established a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship;
B. the treatment must be performed on the order of a licensed veterinarian;
C. the licensed veterinarian must be on the premises and readily available;
D. the licensed veterinarian must assume liability for the quality of any treatment performed; and
E. the fee for services rendered shall be paid to the licensed veterinarian or licensed facility.

"THE NORTH CAROLINA VETERINARY PRACTICE ACT
General Statutes of North Carolina
Chapter 90, Article 11
90-181. Definitions.
(6) "Practice of veterinary medicine” means:
a. To diagnose, treat, correct, change, relieve, or prevent animal disease, deformity, defect, injury, or other physical or mental conditions; including the prescription or administration of any drug, medicine, biologic, apparatus, application, anesthetic, or other therapeutic or diagnostic substance or technique on any animal.
(7) "Veterinarian," means a person who has received a doctor's degree in veterinary medicine from an accredited school of veterinary medicine and who is licensed by the Board to practice veterinary medicine.
Additionally: 90-187.12. Unauthorized practice; penalty:
4. Violate any of the provisions of this Article said person shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. Each act of such unlawful practice shall constitute a distinct and separate offense. " Yikes, N Carolina is serious about Chiropractors not encroaching on their turf!
